"Hips" Test Instructions:

  1. position subject onto marked area; align groin, navel, and feet to reference points
  2. on the graph paper, mark the with of subject’s hips; follow the outermost shadow of subject’s hips, as projected from single spot light
  3. position pressuring platform onto upper hips of subject; align platform to reference points
  4. apply pressure to subject: the constant pressure factor consists of Irma, a 160 lb assistant who stands on the pressuring platform, feet aligned to specially marked areas
  5. as hips of subject expand, trace newly formed shadow of subject’s hips after pressure is applied; mark name and time in upper corner
  6. establish difference between hip width before and after Irma pressure; form a composite local range of values for this differential
  7. test foreign subject against this range
